Job Description:

Modis is currently seeking a VMware Engineer for an exceptional DIRECT HIRE job opportunity with our non-profit healthcare client, located in Chicago’s West side (Pilsen Neighborhood)
 
This VMware Engineer will be joining our client’s infrastructure team as a virtualization specialist, handling the day to day tasks for building out, implementing, troubleshooting and supporting a VMWare ESXi / vSphere environment for 500+ Windows servers.
 
The day to day tasks for this VMware Engineer will include:
 
- Providing day to day support for a medium-scale VMware environment, consisting of around 500 Windows 2003/2008 R2/2012 servers
- Conducting P2V conversions for approx. 150 physical Windows 2008 R2 Servers, using VMware ESXi  5.1, vConverter, vCenter, vSphere, etc.
- Rebuilding out of date Windows 2003 Servers in Windows 2008, and virtualizing the platforms.
- Providing peripheral Systems Administration as it relates to Server Virtualization (Active Directory, EMC Storage, Exchange O365, TCP/IP Troubleshooting, DNS/DHCP Networking)
- Assisting in virtualization for the Storage and backup/recovery solutions (EMC)
- Creating change management documentation and securing the necessary approval for all processes.
- Monitoring and troubleshooting issues within the virtual server environment at a Tier 2/ 3 level.
- Using performance optimization tools such as Netscaler Load Balancers to ensure high availability and optimum performance.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Required Associate’s Degree with 5+ years IT experience
- Microsoft MCSE or VMWare VCP Certifications are preferred
- Specialized background in Vmware Virtualization
- Advanced VMware ESX/ESXi 5.x+, vCenter, vSphere
- Strong Administration skills with medium-sized Windows environments (2003/2008R2/2012)
